1. The state of being distressed, annoyed, or confused; also, grief; affliction; disturbance.
2. A person, circumstance, or event that occasions difficulty or perplexity; the vexation thus occasioned; annoyance; worry; civil unrest or agitation.
3. Toilsome exertion; pains.
