1. The envelope spun by the larvae of certain insects, as silkworms, in which they are enclosed in the pupal or chrysalis state.
2. Any analogous structure, as the egg–bearing case of spiders, earthworms, etc.
3. Mil. The weatherproof covering of cellophane or quick–drying synthetic resin in which military or other heavy equipment may be sealed during transport or when not in use.
