Definition of: creolized language

An amalgamated language, such as Gullah, resulting from close and prolonged contact between two groups speaking dissimilar languages: it usually incorporates a simplified vocabulary from the dominant language with the grammatical system of the native language, and becomes the only language of the subject group.
