An old Slavic alphabet, based mainly on that of the Greeks, said to have been devised by Saint Cyril, the “Apostle of the Slavs,” in the ninth century: in its modern forms, used in Bulgaria, Serbia, and the Soviet Union. See Table of Foreign Alphabets, page 42.
