A number of scrolls of leather or copper, dating from about 100 B.C. to A.D. 100, containing Hebrew and Aramaic texts of Biblical works and liturgical and communal writings earlier than any such manuscripts extant, found in clay jars in Wadi Qumrân caves, 1947, and later at other sites near the Dead Sea.
