Definition of: disk

(disk) noun
1. A flat plate of any material that is circular, or approximately circular; also, any surface that is flat and circular, or apparently so: the disk of a planet.
2. Biol. Any approximately flat circular outgrowth, organ, or structure of a planet or animal: in this sense usually spelled disc.
3. In the Roman Catholic Church, a paten or plate for the eucharistic bread.
4. A quoit or discus. See Illustration under DISCOBOLUS.
5. Agric. A disk harrow.
6. Astron. The figure of a heavenly body, irrespective of its actual form.
7. A disc (def. 1).
