A system of medicine formulated by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, 1755–1843. It is founded on the principle that “like cures like,” and prescribes minute doses of such medicines as would produce in a healty person the symptoms of the disease treated. Also spelled homoeopathy. [<HOMEO- + -PATHY]
