(lē′dər) noun
1. One who leads or conducts; a guide; commander.
2. Music A director or conductor of an orchestra; also, the player of the first or principal instrument in an orchestra or band; in an orchestra, usually the head of the first violins.
3. That which leads, or occupies a chief place, as the foremost horse of a team, etc.

6. An article of merchandise offered at a special price to attract customers.
7. Printing A horizontal row of printed dots or hyphens, or a dot or hyphen of such a row, used to guide the eye, as from one side of a page to the other.
8. In fishing, a short line of gut, nylon, etc., attaching the hook or lure to the line.
