(līm′bō) noun
1. Theol. A region on the edge of hell to which are consigned the souls of the righteous who died before the coming of Christ (limbo patrum, or limbo of the fathers) and the souls of infants who died before baptism (limbo infantum, or limbo of the infants).
2. A place of neglect or oblivion to which unwanted or worthless persons or things are relegated and forgotten.
