1. Blind or overweening confidence or self-assertion.
2. A passing beyond the ordinary bounds of good breeding, respect, or reverence; offensively forward or arrogant conduct or expression; effrontery.
3. The act of forming a judgment on probable grounds, awaiting further evidence; also, the judgment so formed, or a ground or reason for it.
4. That which may be logically or legally assumed to be true until disproved: the presumption of guilt.
