1. The act of projecting; a jutting, throwing, or shooting out or forth.
2. That which projects; a prominence; projecting part or subject.

4. A system of lines drawn on a given fixed plane, as in a map, which represents, point for point, a corresponding system of imaginary lines on a given terrestrial or celestial datum surface: when used in delineating part of the earth's surface, called a map projection.
5. Psychol. The process or result of externalizing or objectifying a perception or mental image: compare INTROJECTION.
