Smooth may appear as a combining form in hyphemes; as in:

Synonyms (adj.): even, flat, glossy, level, plain, plane, polished, sleek, undisturbed, unruffled. An even surface is free from any considerable irregularities, as knobs, or splinters, or abrupt changes of direction or curvature; a smooth surface is one that the hand may be passed over without friction or in which the eye discerns no noticeable break or flaw. That which is polished is brought to a very high degree of smoothness, so as to be not only frictionless to touch but lustrous to the eye. A board is sawed to an even surface, planed till it is smooth, and sandpapered till it is polished. A thing may be smooth or polished and yet very uneven, as a warped piece of veneering.
