1. A white, crystalline ester of glycerol and stearic acid, C3H5(C18H35O2)3, obtained from various animal and vegetable fats: more correctly called glyceryl stearate or tristearin.
2. Stearic acid, especially as combined with palmitic acid for making candles, etc.
3. Fat in solid form. Also ste′a·rine (-rin, -rēn). [<Gk. stear suet]
