Definition of: translation

(trans·lā′shən, tranz-) noun
1. The act of translating, or the state of being translated.
2. A transfer from one language to another; a turning of a foreign literary composition into the vernacular; a reproduction of a work in a language different from the original.
3. Mech. Motion in which all the parts of a body follow the same direction: distinguished from rotation.
