Definition of: treason

(trē′zən) noun
1. Betrayal, treachery, or breach of allegiance or of obedience toward the sovereign or government. Treason against the United States is declared by the Constitution (Article 3, section 3) to “consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort.”
