A rare and mysterious water that restores the dead to life. The human hope and belief that death can be overcome is expressed in the water–of–life motif in the peasant folklore of every European country, in the myths of the ancient Persians, Greeks, Romans, Hebrews, Hindus, in Japanese mythology, and in the folk tales of all primitive peoples, as the Polynesians, North and South American Indians, etc.
