1. The collective body of yeomen; freemen; farmers.
2. Brit. A home guard of volunteer cavalry, created in 1761, consisting of gentlemen and gentlemen farmers, known since 1901 as the Imperial yeomanry. In 1907 it became a part of the Territorial Army.
