People who work in administrative and clerical positions are often referred to as “paper pushers” because they deal with a lot of documents, files, etc. One could argue that in today’s IT-driven world, less (physical) paper gets pushed than before. Does that mean “paper pushers” will get pushed out of jobs? Certainly not—at least not until computers become self-operational or are “manned” by robots.
