What does this quote mean?
“There is nothing quite so effective as a refusal to cooperate economically with the forces and institutions with perpetuate evil in our communities.”
“There is nothing quite so effective as a refusal to cooperate economically with the forces and institutions with perpetuate evil in our communities.”
First I must note there’s a typo in the line. It should read, “… which perpetuate evil in our communities.”
It means: the best way to fight bad companies and institutions is to stop buying their products and services and stop paying them money. If enough people stop buying their products, then the companies that don’t care about the community will go out of business. Or they will wake up to what they must do to fix the situation.
There is also an implied suggestion to stop paying taxes to corrupt governments. But that is not clear. And it may not be what the person speaking it had intended.
