In Greek mythology, the son of Minos and Pasiphae, killed at Athens; to avenge him, Minos forced the Athenians to send a tribute of seven boys and seven girls every year, or every ninth year according to some traditions, to be thrown to the Minotaur. See MINOTAUR, THESEUS.
