Definition of: collate

(kə·lāt′, kol′āt) v.t. ·lat·ed, ·lat·ing
1. To compare critically, as writings or facts.
2. In bookbinding, to examine (the gathered sheets to be bound) in order to verify and correct their arrangement.
3. In bibliography, to examine (the pages of a book) to see that none are missing or out of order.
