1. A payment, as for professional service.
2. A charge for a special privilege, as admission to an entertainment or membership in a society or club.
3. A gratuity.
4. Law An estate of inheritance, either in fee-simple, in which the heir has unqualified ownership and power of disposition, or in fee-tail, in which inheritance is limited to a man and his heirs or to certain classes of heirs.
5. In feudal law, a fief.
