(flash′ing) noun
1. The act of one who flashes, in any sense.
2. A reheating of imperfectly formed glassware.
3. The twirling of a hollow globe of heated glass to spread it into a flat disk.
4. The fusing of a thin coating of colored glass on plain glass.
5. A lap joint, or a turned–up flange, usually of metal, to keep a roof watertight at an angle or where it joins a chimney, etc.
6. The act of flushing, as a stream or sewer.
7. The operation of perfecting the vacuum in a lamp bulb or vacuum tube by suddenly increasing the voltage passing through the filaments or cathode.
