(l·net′) noun
1. Something shaped like a half–moon.
2. Mil. A fieldwork or a detached work formed by two parallel flanks, two faces meeting in a salient angle, with an open gorge.
3. Archit. An arched opening in the side of a long vault formed by the intersection with it of a smaller vault, as for a window.
4. A ring on the tongue or trail plate of a vehicle, for attaching to a limber, motor truck, or other towing vehicle. Also lu·net (l′nit). [<F, dim. of lune moon]
