(pā′lē·ō·lith′ik) adjective Anthropol.
Of, pertaining to, or associated with a period of human culture contemporaneous with the Pleistocene epoch and followed by the Mesolithic period. It is characterized by stone implements of increasing technical refinement; cave paintings, many in vivid color; sculptured forms and bas-reliefs. Also called Old Stone Age.
