Definition of: physics

The science that treats of matter and energy and of the laws governing their reciprocal interplay under conditions susceptible to precise observation, experimental control, and exact measurement. Physics generally includes the subjects of mechanics, heat, light and sound, electricity and magnetism, and radiation, but not the phenomena peculiar to living matter or to chemical change.
