Definition of: prerogative court

1. Brit. Formerly, a court having jurisdiction of testamentary matters, as an archbishop's court in which were involved effects up to five pounds in each of two or more dioceses of the archiepiscopal province.
2. U. S. A court held in New Jersey by the chancellor sitting as ordinary in probate matters, and for the determination of appeals from the Orphan's Court.
