1. A colorless liquid compound, C9H7N, with a tarry odor, obtained variously, as by distilling quinine, cinchonine, or by the destructive distillation of coal and bones.
2. Any of a class of quinoline derivatives, among which are many dyes and medicinal compounds. Also quin′o·lin (-lin).
