Definition of: radioactive series

Physics
The sequence of products formed in the disintegration of a heavy radioactive element. The disintegration of any member of the series produces each of the following members in turn. The three naturally occurring series are those of uranium, thorium, and actinium, each terminating with a stable isotope of lead.
