1. That which reflects.
2. A polished surface, of glass or metal (usually concave), for reflecting light, heat, or sound, and also pictures or slides in a particular direction.
3. A telescope which transmits an image from a reflecting surface to the eyepiece.
4. Physics A substance placed around the core of a nuclear reactor for the purpose of reducing neutron leakage and maintaining the level of the chain reaction: sometimes called a tamper.
5. Telecom. The rear portion of an antenna, serving to increase its directional characteristics.
