(tab′lit) noun
1. A thin leaf or sheet of solid material, as ivory or wood, for writing, painting, or drawing.
2. One of a set of leaves pivoted or joined together at one end and used for writing; also, a set of such leaves; hence, a pad, as of writing paper or note paper.
3. A small table or flat surface, especially one designed for or containing an inscription or design.
4. A small, flat or nearly flat piece of some prepared substance, as chocolate or soap.
5. A definite portion or weight of drug brought by pressure and the addition of a gum into a solid form; a troche or lozenge; also, an electuary.
