(wāt) noun
1. The measure of the force with which bodies tend toward the earth's center, or the quality thus measured. The weight of a body is a product of its mass and the acceleration due to gravity.
2. Any object or mass which weighs a definite or specific amount.
3. A definite mass of brass, iron, or other metal, used in weighing machines as a standard; any unit of heaviness, as a pound, ounce, etc.
4. Any mass used as a counterpoise or to exert pressure by force of gravity: a paperweight.
