(ul′stər)
A former province of northern Ireland comprising the nine counties listed below; 8,331 square miles. In 1925 six of the counties (Antrim, Armagh, Downe, Fermanagh, Londonderry, Tyrone: 5,238 square miles) became Northern Ireland and three (Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan: 3,093 square miles) the Province of Ulster of the Republic of Ireland.
