What does “from moring suns and evening dews” mean?
“From moring suns and evening dews/At first thy little being cames:/ If nothing once, you nothing lose,/For when you die you are the same;/ The space between is but an hour,/The frail duration of a flower.” (Freneau, The Wild Honey Suckle)
I think that means from day to night. From the sun rising in the morning to the dew on the grass in the evening. I think it’s like a metaphor for life. It’s about the passage of time, and how short life is, and how no matter who you are, time passes and death comes.
