What does ~ mean?
I’m reading a nutritional guide that mentions this when listing the amount of carbohydrates for a certain food:
~6g per piece
Does that mean that there are “about” 6 grams per piece? That’s the only thing that makes sense to me.
Thanks!
It’s called a “tidle” has two uses:
1. In Spanish you can use it over an “N” for an accent mark, and
2. In Mathematics it is a symbol for “approximately to…”
I hope this helps! 🙂

LikeDislikeHey Kennadie?
~ is spelt TILDE, not TIDLE!
~ is used when the approximate margin of error could be significant,
≈ denotes a higher level of accuracy.
