Definition of: intensity

1. The state or quality of being intense; relative strength or degree of a quality or force; intenseness.
2. Physics The force, energy, or quantity of action of any physical agent, generally estimated by its ratio to the space within which it acts, or to the quantity of matter on which it acts: the intensity of pressure of a fluid, the intensity of gravity.
3. Electr. a The strength of an electric or magnetic field as measured by the number of force lines that pass through unit area of cross–section. b Current strength or density. c Potential or electromotive force.
