1. Archit. A style prevalent in England in the early 18th century, or a style similar to it used in the United States in the latter part of the 19th century, characterized by the use of red brickwork on which relief ornaments are carved, and by plain, unpretentious design.
2. A type of furniture characterized by much upholstery and marquetry.
