1. A part cut off or divided from the other parts of anything; a section.
2. Geom. a A part of a figure cut off by a line or plane; especially, the part of a circle included within a chord and its arc. b A finite part of a divided line.
3. Zool. One of the serial divisions of an animal; somite; meta-mere; also, the portion of a limb between two joints. See synonyms under PART.
