2. The jousts, sports, or contests in which such combatants engaged.
3. A comparatively recent sport of skilled horsemen, who tilt at rings suspended in the air, seeking to bear them off on their lances.
4. Any contest of skill involving a number of competitors and a series of games: a chess tournament.
