Definition of: prayer

(prâr) noun
1. The act of offering reverent petitions, especially to God.
2. The act of beseeching earnestly; entreaty.
3. Often plural A religious service of which prayer is the most prominent part: evening prayers.
4. Communion with God and recognition of His presence, as in praise, thanksgiving, intercession, etc.
5. A form of words appropriate to prayer.
6. A memorial or petition.
7. Law The request in a bill in equity for the specific relief sought by the complainant; also, the part of the bill in which the request is made.
