1. A mark or trail left by the passage of anything: the track of a storm.
2. A footprint or series of footprints.
3. Any regular path; course: the track of a comet round the sun.
4. Any kind of race-course; also, sports performed on such a course; track athletics.
5. A set of rails or a rail on which something may travel; specifically, the pair of metal rails on which a railway train or tramway runs; also, the rail or pair of rails with its ties, bolts, etc.; by extension, the whole trackway.
6. A trace or vestige.
7. A sequence of events; a succession of ideas.
